CFRP STRENGTHENING ON FLOOR
strengthening floor with unidirectional CFRP wrap
strengthening floor with unidirectional carbon fiber wrap
Floor play with one of important role in the construction, it is a kind of load bearing components which connecting with wall and column in horizontal direction to keep the stability of them. Floor bear the stress from horizontal direction and then pass the load to wall and column, then finally to bases.
There are kinds of methods to do reinforcement for the floor. Here, we just talk some points with CFRP strengthening.
The applicability
CFRP Wraps have 10 times the tensile strength capacity of steel, over 50 years working life, good applicability for the floor. Before stick the CFRP products to the floor, we should clear the surface of the floor and clean with acetone and keep it dry. And based on the code and experience, the CFRP wraps not over 4 layers.
Unload
Before we use CFRP to reinforce the floor, we should take measures to remove the live load of the floor. Otherwise, the stress of reinforced floor will be from itself and live load. That will influence the CFRP reinforced performance. And finally, we need to stick CFRP again, and then it takes a lot of materials wasting. Therefore, Reinforce the floor with CFRP should remove all the live load.
The load of reinforced should not be over 40% than before.
We increase the load on the reinforced floor, and then there comes a question, what ‘s the ultimately value? Can be any weight? Of course not!!!
Based on the international structural strengthening code, the flexure strength of reinforced concrete components should not more that 40%.
There was a saying in seismic resistance design named “strong shear and weak bending” To be easy to understand, that it is to say bending damage is a delay damage, it will craze, down-warping, and then damage, then shear damage used to happen in suddenly, no prediction, so it will be more dangerous. Then we need control the risk rate, ensure the flexure strength should not be over 40%.
