Maintenance and Reinforcement Project of Minjiang Bridge

This bridge is composed of an old bridge and a new bridge, which are built together. It is an important passage connecting the old urban area and the new area, with an average daily traffic volume of about 100000 vehicles. The old bridge was built in the early 1970s and is the earliest highway bridge in the central urban area, which has been in operation for nearly 50 years; The new bridge was built and opened to traffic in 2000 to meet the increasing flow of people and vehicles.

During bridge inspection, it was found that the arch ring of the old bridge belly had defects such as misalignment and penetrating cracks, posing significant safety hazards. 

Some components of the old bridge have diseases such as material aging, concrete crushing, and loss of bearing capacity. The technical condition is evaluated as a Class IV dangerous bridge, and reinforcement and renovation work must be carried out immediately.

The reinforcement and treatment project for the old bridge includes strengthening the main arch ring, removing and replacing the widened bridge deck system, treating the damaged pier foundation, installing a bridge health monitoring system, and widening and renovating the sidewalks of the new bridge.
