Carbon Fiber Strengthening Existing Concrete Structures
New Large Equipments Added
In order to ensure the safety of the building after adding large equipments, the original structure needs to be reinforced. HM-30 carbon fiber is used to reinforce beams, columns, plates, and ribbed slabs.
A Venezuela factory decided to introduce some new and efficient processing equipment on the second floor. These new equipments have higher precision and production efficiency, but they also bring some structural problems to the factory building:
1) Changes in the force on the floor. Large equipment usually has a large weight, and placing it in the building will directly increase the static load of the floor. This may cause excessive bending stress on the floor, causing cracks, deflection or even partial damage to the floor
2) Increased burden on beams and columns. The weight of the new equipments exceed the design bearing capacity of the beams and columns, which may cause cracks and deformation in the beams and columns, and in severe cases may affect the overall structural stability of the building.
3) Vibration problem. Long-term vibration can cause fatigue damage to building materials such as concrete and steel, reducing the strength and durability of the structure.
In order to ensure the safety of the building after adding large equipments, the original structure needs to be reinforced. HM-30 carbon fiber is used to reinforce beams, columns, plates, and ribbed slabs.
After the carbon fiber reinforcement construction was completed, the factory invited a professional testing agency to test the columns, beams and ribs again. The test results show that after carbon fiber reinforcement, the bearing capacity of the columns and ribs has been significantly improved, which can meet the dynamic load requirements of the newly added equipment.
In the subsequent production process, the factory also regularly monitors the reinforced structure to ensure its stable and reliable performance. Through this, the factory successfully solved the problem of insufficient structural bearing capacity caused by the newly added equipment on the second floor, and also providing a strong guarantee for the sustainable development of the factory.
